Mogul Mowgli
Riz Ahmed is incendiary as a British-Pakistani rapper on the brink of fame whose life turns upside down after a damning diagnosis.
The debut narrative feature from award-winning documentary filmmaker Bassam Tariq, Mogul Mowgli is a dazzling, fierce display of filmmaking. Zed (Ahmed) is a British-Pakistani rapper poised to conquer the US. But during his first visit to his family in Wembley in two years, Zed is struck down by a degenerative disease, robbing him of virtually everything but his voice.
Bed-bound, Zed is confronted by hallucinations of his cultural identity: an abrasive, medicated expression of the British-Pakistani experience. Tariq’s alliterative imagery inventively bounces off Zed’s inventive wordplays as a rapper – penned by Ahmed himself!
